West Jordan is the greatest place to live!
Before being elected in 2017, I had the opportunity to get involved as a concerned citizen with development that was happening in my own backyard. It was great to get to know my neighbors and get involved as a citizen rather than just sitting back and letting things happen without public input. I learned that we as citizens need to voice our concerns and our opinions so that we can make our city what we want it to be. I have been able to use that knowledge from getting involved and worked with residents to make sure all of our concerns and issues were tackled the past 4 years. I look forward to continue representing all of you in helping direct the future of West Jordan.
When I ran for City Council in 2017, I thought I knew a lot about how government works. Over the past 4 years I have gained tremendous experience that I believe will benefit the city moving forward as I look to serve a 2nd term.
I have been a part of a huge change with our city when we made the change in form of government 2 years ago to a Strong Mayor form. This change required everyone on the council to work with the new Mayor and make sure that all citizens still have a voice when it comes to decisions that might be made by both the Mayor and City Staff.
The knowledge I have gained and the relationships I have created in my time on City Council will be very beneficial to both the Council as a whole and to our citizens as we continue to make important decisions for the future of our city.
Do we really know how our tax dollars are being spent? It is important both as a citizen of West Jordan and as a member of the City Council to make sure those dollars are being spent in a manner that benefits everyone.
Being fiscally responsible with our tax dollars is important to me and in my time on the council I have been able to work with city staff to make sure we are using those dollars wisely.
Each year we as council members and all citizens have an opportunity to give their input on where our dollars are being spent and how they want those tax dollars used. I urge everyone to reach out to City Council members and the Mayor and let your voice be heard.
We can decide the future of our city TODAY. We can’t sit back and just hope that West Jordan will become a great city. We need to make things happen now for the future success of the city.
We all live in West Jordan for different reasons…but in the end we want a great city that we are proud to live in. Not only do we need to look at ways to make West Jordan better…we need to actually DO IT!
We also need to look for ways to expand our tax base to pay for things the city needs…and the best way to do this is by bringing in businesses to help keep the majority of the tax burden off the citizens.
Economic development is an ongoing process in West Jordan. Every city wants new businesses. As West Jordan continues to grow we need to look for more opportunities to bring these businesses to our city to benefit our citizens.
The West side continues to grow and West Jordan has a great opportunity to continue to bring in new businesses. We cannot afford to lose business to other cities on the West side. As a City Council member, we work hand in hand with the Mayor and the Economic Development Director to find companies that will be a good fit for our community.
We need to continue looking for new ways to market the benefits of bringing new business to the city. Businesses want to go where people want to go and they want to make a profit. That requires placing their business in cities where they know they will make a profit. My goal is to keep finding ways to make West Jordan the destination on the West Side for businesses looking for a great place to move or re-locate.
